The spruce-dominant coastal forest is underlain in places by thick, luxuriant sphagnum moss and reindeer lichen. Some forested areas have re-grown from hayfields and pastures of 100 years ago. Hikers can follow the 1.5-mile hiking trail loop that extends southward from the cottage on the Ross properties. Following the shoreline along the high forested cliffs, guests will discover picturesque views of the bay. Hikers can return along the beach or the cottage woods road.
