A conservation easement protecting about one mile of the Ross shorefront property from development is held by the land trust, an affiliate of the Maine Coast Heritage Trust. All Ross Cottage rental profits are dedicated to the Quoddy Regional Land Trust. The QRLT seeks to preserve the environmental quality of Cobscook Bay, nearby Atlantic salmon streams, and other outstanding features of Washington County. The QRLT’s office is on U.S. 1 about a quarter-mile west of the Rt. 189 turnoff to Lubec.
